I hate infomercials. There, I said it. They’re loud, full of hype, and the quality of the products isn’t always something to be proud of. However, I like to give everyone a fair chance and so I set out to review the Ab Circle Pro – a new abs machine which is marketed by Jennifer Nicole Lee, the famous fitness model.
The start of my research and review were not that good, and I’ll explain why…
When you go to the Ab Circle Pro website which is the only place you can currently get this device, you immediately see that it’s offered for $14.95 as a 30 day trial. You can get it shipped to you and try it out for this low price. At first, this seems exciting, but when I scrolled down to the bottom of the page, I saw the whole truth.
When you order you free trial, you need to pay a shipping cost of $34.50 (in addition to the $14.95) and this is non-refundable. Then, if you decide that you don’t want in within your 30 day trial period, you need to ship it back. There goes another $34.50. This means that while you thought that you can try this product out for $14.95, the fact is that you pay over $70!
Always read the fine print.
If you don’t return it within the trial period, it will cost you some more. You will have to shell out 5 payments of $39.95 each. This brings your total cost to over $200. Quite a big sum for an abs machine. Sure it’s cheaper than a treadmill but it’s much more expensive than other abs machines.
I don’t like hidden costs and this certainly seemed like it to me. I feel that the makers of the Ab Circle Pro could have been more upfront with the real costs involved in getting their product. I believe that it would have helped to reduce the natural skepticism that these products raise in so many people who have experienced disappointment with other machines before.
That’s it for this post. Stay tuned for part 2 of my review where I really get into what other people say about it.
